PATIENTS WILL NOT NEED TO ASK PHYSICIANS FOR SICK NOTES WITH NEW LEGISLATION
• In BC, employers by law should not be asking patients to get a sick note from HCPs for your first two health-related, short-term absences of five consecutive days or fewer in a calendar year.
• As a Patient, you do not need to book an appointment or pay for a sick note just for these first two short sick leaves.

And email to your employer to explain why a doctor’s note is not needed for those absences.
• This change helps keep appointment times available for patients who need medical care, rather than for paperwork.
